Welcome to the Board of Pensions and Retirement

Mission

The Board of Pensions and Retirement ensures that retirement benefits promised to the active and retired members of the City's Pension system are provided in a timely and professional manner.  The Board manages the assets of the pension system in the most prudent and efficient manner possible.

The nine-member Board is chaired by the Director of Finance and includes the City Solicitor, the Managing Director, the City Personnel Director, the City Controller and four members elected by the civil service employees of the City of Philadelphia.  The pension benefits available to City employees are determined by City Ordinances and by the City's collective bargaining agreements.
