Mission

The Office of Strategic Planning (OSP) serves as a focal point for planning activities across City government, and coordinates interagency policy as it relates to the physical development of the City. The Office of Transportation has been incorporated into OSP; consequently, advising on, and conducting research related to, transit and transportation policy is one major focus of this office. OSP staff represents the Administration on transportation-related committees, regional organizations and other bodies, conducting research concerning transportation policies as well as representing and furthering the City's transportation agenda.

  • Community Development and Housing Policy, as well as Environmental Policy and Regional Coordination, are other core areas of focus. OSP, in turn, coordinates its actions with the work of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. The Secretary of Strategic Planning also serves as Executive Director of the Planning Commission and represents the Mayor on the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
