Philadelphia's 7th Annual Developers Breakfast and
Neighborhood Tour

Walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods; citywide public transit; 9,200 acres of public parks; “green” building design and construction - these strengths are shaping Philadelphia into one of the nation’s most sustainable cities. Join us as Philadelphia’s 7 Annual Developers Breakfast and Neighborhood Tour explores the city’s plans to continue advancing its economic and environmental growth.

In concurrent workshops, you’ll discover cutting-edge ideas and methods for building green, storm-water management and redeveloping industrial areas. Travel through the city’s north and northwest neighborhoods to view opportunities for development, including transit-oriented projects.

The continental breakfast, workshops and tour are FREE. The location is accessible by public transportation; free lot parking is available.

WORKSHOPS
A. Redeveloping Industrial Areas
This workshop will provide information and insight on city and state programs to help developers assess, safely clean up and sustainably reuse environmentally contaminated industrial and residential properties.

B. Building Green in Philadelphia
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and Energy Star are among the new technologies that incorporate environmental design into residential and commercial development. Experts will detail how building green decreases contaminants and curbs energy consumption.

C. Storm-Water Management
The Philadelphia Water Department has invested $50 million in immediate capital improvements to the city’s sewer system to reduce pollutants entering rivers and streams when the city’s storm sewers overflow. Learn how new requirements will both impact development and improve the environment.

D. Commercial Revitalization
Vibrant commercial corridors serve as economic engines for neighborhood revitalization. Discover how such programs as ReStore Philadelphia Corridors aims to re-establish these business hubs’ historic roles as central places to shop, work and meet neighbors.

NEIGHBORHOOD TOUR
E. Touring North and Northwest Philadelphia
From North to Northwest, Philadelphia contains many opportunities for building green. The tour will highlight public and market-rate housing side-by-side in East Falls, the public transit center at Wayne Junction and the residential and commercial growth possibilities in Nicetown. Locations of choice available for redevelopment and revitalization include the Budd Co. complex. Visit The Rivage, Falls Ridge, Hilltop at Falls Ridge and the surrounding area.
