Workwise WorkWise provides barrier remediation and work ready training to individuals referred from the Philadelphia County Assistance Offices (CAO). Our program’s chosen name "WorkWise” represents our ambitious goal to prepare individuals for the world of work. |
WorkWise offers a comprehensive work ready program for Philadelphians. The program empowers its customers to develop resources that will help prepare them to enter or re-enter the work force. The primary goal of WorkWise is to match customers with work activities that would render the customer ready to become employed. Our customers can expect to undergo aptitude and skill assessments, receive barrier remediation assistance, attend job readiness classes, as well as basic computer, soft skills and customer service training. Additionally, WorkWise offers supplementary workshops to further prepare our customers for the world of work.
Throughout the program, instructors and case managers alike, assist the customers one-on-one in addressing employment barriers and offer resources to empower our customers to move toward a more self-sufficient lifestyle. Case managers help customers identify suitable child-care, transportation allowances, and other temporary assistance available from the County Assistance Office (CAO) and WorkWise’s established community partnerships.
As customers prepare themselves for the workplace, WorkWise’s Workforce Development Specialists identify and match qualified customers with work activities including non-paid internships and employment. Workforce Development Specialists take pride in their ability to sell the WorkWise program to employers and carefully match skilled workers with non-paid internships and job opportunities. Through this holistic and personal approach to employment services, WorkWise offers its customers hope, encouragement, and a sense of optimism. At the same time, it teaches them the practical skills necessary for success in the workplace.
