Community Engagement
Philadelphia's communities are provided with the skills, support, and resources needed to take responsibility for their neighborhoods. In cases where individuals are unable to advocate for themselves, qualified staff will act as their "voice" by providing assistance. Community Engagement Unit also provides advocacy for Non-English speaking individuals.
A diversity of services are offered ranging from assistance with LIHEAP, PACE, and SSI Disability applications to employment, housing referrals, and voter registration. The program also organizes city blocks and recruits lot caretakers and block captains.
In addition, Community Engagement Unit provides a series of development and leadership programs such as Rites of Passage, 4H-Jr. Club, Healthy Rangers, Urban Riders, and Job Readiness and Nutrition Education. Case, health, home and stress management are also offered by Community Organizing Program.
