Commercial and Industrial
This unit is responsible for performing site inspections to ensure fire prevention and property maintenance code compliance within  buildings of mass assembly.

Business Compliance
Perform site inspections for certain licenses as a part of the licensing process.  In addition, conduct inspections on a regular basis to ensure businesses have the proper licensing

Weights and Measures
Responsible for inspecting and testing all businesses affected by  weights and measures regulations for conformance to City, State and National codes. This involves all commercial weighing devices: scales, scanners, gasoline dispensers and fuel oil meters and the packaging and labeling of all commodities offered for sale.

Nuisance Abatement
This unit functions as a liaison for the department in a multi-agency program to reduce public nuisances in the City of Philadelphia

Philadelphia Public Nuisance Task Force 

License Issuance
Issues original and renewal city licenses including  a number of occupational licenses.  Issues permits for such things as temporary amusement, temporary dance, fireworks display and other special  events.  Revokes licenses upon notification by the appropriate authorities

Code Violation Resolution
Represents the Department in court actions against persons failing to comply with code violations. Represents the Department in appeals to various City boards. Responds to subpoenas served on the Department.
