The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) has been recognized nationally as a model of innovation and progress.

Services include:

  • door-to-door outreach and education
  • free blood lead testing and diagnosis
  • analysis and tracking of lead poisoning trends
  • home inspections and medical followup
  • prevention education to new mothers, families and groups
  • 24-hour information hotline in English, Spanish, Khmer (Cambodian) and Vietnamese
  • emergency lead abatement

Parents and caregivers may bring children between six months and six years old to a Philadelphia health care center for a free blood lead test and diagnosis. Program nurses and community health workers arrange referrals for all children with elevated blood lead levels.
