Food Safety Certification Program

Food Establishment Personnel Food Safety Certification Program

This program requires food establishments to have one or more persons certified as being trained and knowledgeable about food safety and safe food handling practices.  The purpose of this requirement is to help ensure that the management of a food establishment is able to incorporate important foodborne disease prevention measures into operating procedures as a matter of standard practice.

The certified individual is also required to conduct quarterly self-inspections of their food establishment.  This self-inspection is done to identify conditions that would require effective remedial action to ensure that the operation of the food establishment is in compliance with applicable regulations and food safety practices

The Food Establishment Personnel Food Safety Certificate is required to be posted in a conspicuous location within public view.   Questions About the Food Safety Certificate
