HEALTH Vital Statistics The Philadelphia Vital Statistics Report is issued annually by Philadelphia Department of Public Health. In accordance to Philadelphia Home Rule Charter, the Department of Public Health shall be the agency of the City for compiling, analyzing, maintaining, and reporting statistics and data concerning births, still-births, and deaths (Chapter 3, 5-300, d). The annual vital statistics report fulfills this function, and reports on the vital events of births, deaths, and fetal deaths (i.e. still-births) occurring to Philadelphia residents. The current report is available on this site for download. In addition to the primary report, Philadelphia Vital Statistics Report, there is also a supplemental report, Vital Statistics Events by Census Tract and ZIP Code Report. This report reports on the vital events of births and deaths occurring to Philadelphia residents by census tract and ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) Code. The purpose of the supplemental report is to provide aggregate data on vital statistics events by geography. This report enables the User to examine vital statistics for a neighborhood or community within Philadelphia. This report supplements the primary publication of "Philadelphia Vital Statistics Report", which contained detailed birth, death and fetal deaths statistics for Philadelphia residents overall. This supplemental report is only available electronically from this Website. For the convenience of Users who would like to use the aggregate data in the supplemental report for additional analyses, spreadsheet files containing tables from this report are also available for download. If you have any questions or comments regarding these reports or data tables, please contact the Health Data, Statistics and Research Unit at 215-685-5690.
