Animal Care and Control Services

Animal Care and Control

Our Animal Care and Control Team (ACCT) is subcontracted through the Pennsylvania SPCA and is responsible for enforcing the City’s Animal Control Code.

ACCT responds to complaints about lost pets, stray animals, nuisance animals, horse carriage issues, and animal removal.

ACCT also provides dog licenses, accepts surrendered animals, and reports animal bite incidents for investigation.

Animal Bites

We perform animal bite investigations in partnership with the Division of Disease Control.

Rabies
Dogs with licenses have been vaccinated against rabies.  Vaccination helps to protect the health and safety of other dogs from rabies. Untreated rabies is 100% deadly in both animals and people.

Special Permits

We also provide inspection for special animal exhibit permits for temporary display/exhibit of wild or illegal animals, such as in a circus or petting zoo.
