District Attorney Lynne Abraham created I-LEAD to develop urban leaders so they can better serve their communities. I-LEAD is a community-based nonprofit school working to improve local quality of life by helping to strengthen citizens as effective leaders. I-LEAD develops communication, critical thinking and other skills necessary for success. Program participants become well-trained leaders ready to take charge of renewal efforts in their cities and towns; make their neighborhoods more attractive to new business ventures; help train or re-train workers; stabilize, and even improve, housing value; and encourage re-population.
I-LEAD is operational in 16 cities across Pennsylvania and in 17 counties and our graduates can now receive a fully accredited 2-year Associates Degree to those who fulfill our 2-year "university without walls" requirements.
In 2003, I-LEAD founded a community Health Division, with the mission to promote health equity in Pennsylvania. For more information about this program and other "I-LEAD" initiatives visit www.I-Lead.org.
The District Attorney believes community involvement and investment contributes to safer neighborhoods and I-LEAD works to advance to those principles.
