The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office provides a voice for victims of crime and protects the community through zealous, ethical and effective investigations and prosecutions.


The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is the largest prosecutor's office in Pennsylvania, and one of the largest in the nation. It serves the more than 1.5 million citizens of the City and County of Philadelphia, employing 600 lawyers, detectives and support staff. It is organized into six divisions: Executive/Administration, Trials, Investigations, Juvenile, Law, and Narcotics. The District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecution of over 75,000 criminal cases yearly.

 

Lynne Abraham has been District Attorney of Philadelphia since 1991, winning re-election in 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005. As the chief law enforcement officer, District Attorney Abraham leads the fight against crime in Philadelphia by prosecuting criminals and ensuring the rights of crime victims. In addition to investigating and prosecuting crime, District Attorney Abraham has established cutting-edge intervention and prevention programs to reduce crime throughout the City. These initiatives reflect her belief that community mobilization and involvement are critical to reducing crime and revitalizing the community. It is Lynne Abraham's mission to make Philadelphia a safer city in which to live, work and visit.

 

The main office of the Philadelphia District Attorney is located in Center City Philadelphia at The Widener Building, Three South Penn Square. The Juvenile Division is located at 1401 Arch Street, the Child Support Unit is at 46 South 11th Street, and the Private Criminal Complaint Unit is located at 34 South 11th Street. Additionally, the Charging Unit is staffed around the clock in the Criminal Justice Center at 13th & Filbert Streets.
