Trauma Transformation
Taskforce
The Trauma Transformation Task Force is comprised of members in the
behavioral health field who have knowledge of and a commitment to developing
a trauma-informed system of care. The goal of the work group is to develop
a strategic plan that begins to identify the initial steps in creating
a trauma-informed system of care. The trauma-informed system will be
one that understands the impact of violence, the vulnerabilities of
trauma survivors, the prevention of re-traumatization, and the development
of expertise in the area of "traumatology". The goals are to:
1. Develop administrative commitment and capacity to become a trauma-informed
system of care.
2. Build system-level capacity that assists providers in the development
of a mission and vision statement that moves those providers towards a
more trauma-informed system of care. This includes providing new tools,
training programs, outcome measures, and assistance in developing partnerships
between providers and consumers.
3. Develop "Trauma Champions" - consumers/survivors/recovering individuals
with lived experience and who understand the impact of trauma and victimization
because of their own experiences. The goal is to enhance peer support
and increase involvement of peers in the planning and the development
of services.
4. Assist in identifying advocacy opportunities on local, state, and national
levels and providing information to persons in recovery/survivors.
5. Incorporate the work of the Systems Transformation Committees, DSS
CARES, and the Blue Ribbon Commission to ensure that there is coordination
across all efforts as it relates to creating a trauma-informed and trauma-specific
system of services and supports for children.
