The goal of the initiative is to improve treatment outcomes by stabilizing the living environment of clients who would otherwise reside in housing situations that are not conducive to their recovery.
As of Fiscal Year 2007, the initiative includes 21 sites operated by 13 organizations that provide a total of 355 recovery housing slots. The programs within the initiative are community-based and place a strong emphasis on the recovery model. Of the 21 sites, 16 are minority and/or women organizations. Individualized houses serve men, women, and women with children.
