Dear Interested Party:
The Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services (DBH/MRS) is responsible for administering a broad array of treatment, intervention, prevention, and support services to individuals, families, and communities experiencing difficulties related to mental illness, mental retardation, and/or substance abuse. Philadelphia’s behavioral health system is currently undergoing an exciting time of transformation as we seek to improve the services available to children, adults and families with mental health and/or substance abuse concerns. To that end, the Department is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) for mini-grant funding for grass roots, community and faith-based organizations, and DBH/MRS smaller provider organizations, including CODAAP recovery houses that are currently engaged in behavioral health and/or social service work. Mini-grants are essentially one time funding to be used for innovative enhancements to existing projects.
Enclosed, you will find the RFA for mini-grant funding. If your organization
is interested in submitting an application, it must be received by the
DBH/MRS no later than March 30, 2007 at 4:00 PM. Any response(s) received
after this date and time will not be reviewed. In addition to one original
signed application, we are also requiring you to submit, by the same
deadline, fifteen (15) copies of your application. These should be submitted
to:
In order to provide you with as much information as possible, an information session will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 1:00 PM, and on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM (for those unable to attend on March 8th), at Community Behavioral Health (CBH) in the Large Conference Room, The Strawbridge’s Building, 801 Market Street, 7th Floor. Please bring your identification in order to enter the building.
We strongly recommend that all interested parties attend the information session. Please RSVP with your name, organization, phone number and email (if available) to Ms. Norma Hagwood, norma.hagwood@phila.gov or (215) 685-5440 to reserve your space. Please limit representation to no more than two persons per organization, as space is limited. You will only receive a confirmation response from Ms. Hagwood if the session is full or cancelled.
We look forward to partnering with you, as together we seek to improve services and supports for individuals and families in Philadelphia. We hope to see you at one of the information sessions. If you have any questions concerning the RFA, please contact Dr. Carissa Ferguson-Thomas at 215-685-4858, (carissa.ferguson@phila.gov) or Kyra Turner at 215-546-1200 (kturner@pmhcc.org).
