City of Philadelphia’s music and entertainment series,
‘Let’s Do Lunch in LOVE Park,’ takes center stage


Philly’s famous park comes alive with musical acts, chess competition and other activities featuring the Thursday evening concerts.

The City of Philadelphia is hosting “Summer of LOVE (Park)” featuring “Let’s Do Lunch in LOVE Park,” a series of free mid-day music and entertainment and a weekly evening concert series for the general public and patrons of the park at John F. Kennedy Plaza (LOVE Park, near LOVE sculpture, southwest corner, 16th Street and JFK Blvd. Performances will be canceled if there is inclement weather.

The public also is invited to observe and participate with these talented performers. Following recent beautification improvements to the park, the City of Philadelphia and other partnering organizers are establishing JFK Plaza as an entertainment mecca for the public.

In June, a tradition of friendly chess competitions and tournaments was revived in Love Park through participation from the public, local chess clubs and schools. City officials and some local chess clubs are hoping the event will spur interest in competitive chess at JFK Plaza reminiscent of years ago.

The former Philadelphia Visitor's Center in JFK Plaza was opened to the public for café seating, and a Love Park lunch delivery program was launched through the participation of fine Center City eateries. Let’s Do Lunch in Love Park is part of a summer series of events at JFK Plaza to expand the use of the park and engage Philadelphia residents, Center City employees and visitors to Philadelphia.
