The National Arts Program currently promotes exhibitions in more than 450 large and small cities, counties, airports, hospitals and other organizations throughout the country. The concept of The National Arts Program is to provide an uninhibited opportunity for all people to present their talents, at whatever level, in a public exhibition, free to artists and the public. By removing obstacles to artistic expression, the program seeks to showcase individual talent and increase the self-confidence of its participants.
Since 1985, The National Arts Program has provided scholarships for continuing art education, certificates of participation, and cash awards to public employees and their family members who participate in this annual event. The National Arts Program is sponsored and funded by The National Arts Program Foundation of Malvern, Pennsylvania, in support and cooperation with local city arts agencies and organizations. For more information on The National Arts Program?, visit the web site: www.nationalartsprogram.org.
Art In City Hall presents exhibitions that showcase contemporary works of art by emerging and professional Philadelphia visual artists, including work by community nonprofits and schools. Encompassing a variety of mediums, techniques and subjects, this municipal program is committed to presenting a diversity of ideas and artistic explorations.
Art In City Hall is a collaborative effort between the City of Philadelphia's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy and the arts community. It is supported by an independent Advisory Council made up of arts professionals and private citizens. Since the program began in 1984, over 2000 emerging artists have shown their talents in the hallways of City Hall through juried group exhibitions based on specific themes. In addition to these exhibitions, the program also displays artwork from Philadelphia's schools, other city agencies, local non-profits, and community arts organizations.
