2011 ART CONTEST

PROGRAM

Parks and Recreation participants develop two-dimensional artwork relevant to support Philadelphia's New Recycling initiative. These works will be displayed in the main offices of the Parks and Recreation Department.

 

PURPOSE

To encourage participants to beautify their neighborhoods and recreation centers. This activity makes individuals more aware of the importance to save their environment. Its gives the participant an active role towards the goal to save the environment. It also encourages individuals to expand their creativity and resource a wide range of ideas through developing artwork on a specific theme. Finally, this activity will help to increase interest in the city of Philadelphia's recycling program.

 

GUIDELINES

  • Possible subjects could include the stream recycling idea. They could also show the positive effects of recycling and the negative effects if recycling laws are not followed. The participants could show various ways in which people can recycle, etc.
  • All work must be done at a Recreation Department facility.
  • All work must be relevant to the theme. The Theme is GREEN SCENE 
  • Work must be durable. All work must be correctly tagged, either typed or in legible hand printing.
  • Leaders must make sure that each piece has the participant's name, age and facility permanently marked on the back or the bottom of the piece.
  • The dimension for this artwork is 11 X 17. Various colors may be used, however only the winning posters will be printed in color.

DATES

            February 7th               All entries must be delivered to Jardel before 4PM.

            February 10th             Judging

            February 14th             Artwork will go on display at 1515 Arch Street, 10th Floor  

            March 1st                   Exhibit ends.       

      

 AWARDS

Certificates will be awarded for the most outstanding works, based on age and media.

All entries will receive a certificate of participation. Three overall winners will be selected and 100 copies of their poster will be printed.
