Boat Launches

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation offers nine boat launches to provide access to the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers. The use of the rivers and regulations regarding watercraft are governed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Please visit their website to learn about PA boating laws and regulations, safety education certification requirements and boat registration.

Delaware River

Pleasant Hill
Location: Linden Avenue & the Delaware River
Open year-round

Frankford Arsenal
Location: Tacony & Bridge Streets
Open mid-April through November

Tacony
Location: Princeton Avenue & the Delaware River
Open mid-April through November

Schuylkill River

East Park Canoe House*
Location: 2400 Kelly Drive
This boat launch is limited to use for boats with a 9.9hp engine or less

Kelly Drive at the St. Joseph’s Boat House*
Location: 2200 Kelly Drive

Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive near Black Road*
Location: 1233 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive

Lloyd Hall*
Location: 1 Boathouse Row
There is a locked gate at this launch. Please contact the facility at (215) 685-3936 to gain access.

Walnut Street
Location: East side of Walnut Street & the Schuylkill River
This dock is available for limited public use when it is not being used for organized events on the Schuylkill Banks. Schuylkill River Development Corporation staff members are happy to open up the gate whenever they are on the trail. Please visit www.schuylkillbanks.org/activities/boating for more information about the Walnut Street Dock.

Bartram’s Garden
Location: West side of the Schuylkill River at Bartram’s Garden, 5400 Lindbergh Boulevard
This dock is available for limited public use when it is not being used for organized events on the Schuylkill Banks. Please coordinate with Bartram’s Garden staff in advance if you plan to use the dock, as the gates are usually locked.

* These boat launches are off limits during regattas.
† These boat launches are only designed to accommodate non-motorized watercraft, such as rowboats, kayaks and paddleboats.
