Educational Home Rule Charter Commission[Record group 144]
- This Commission has ceased to function.
The Commission was charged with preparing a supplement to the City Charter of 1951 that would create a new "home rule" School District for Philadelphia empowered with the authorities granted in section 18 of the Act.
- Agency History
- Created by Act of August 9, 1963 and composed of nine members appointed equally by the Mayor, the Court of Common Pleas, and the Governor. The Commission submitted its proposed supplement in April, 1965, and it was adopted by the City at an election in May of the same year.
