This group is not affiliated with Pennypack Environmental Center, but we support their mission of responsible, safe recreation and caring for the trails. ALL PACES AND FACES WELCOME - Come out and join us for our weekly Saturday run! Escaping into the woods gives you a nature experience that a road run often cannot, and a trail's softer surface gives your body a break, too. Plus you will be enjoying nature with some awesome, encouraging, and supportive people!
We generally have a couple different groups from beginners to advanced so all paces and levels are not only welcome but encouraged to come out and join us!
CASUAL/EASY PACE GROUP - this group is perfect for those who want an easy going walk/run tailored to whoever is in the group that day. Generally there is both a front leader and sweeper leader in the back. This group will typically do 3 to 4 miles with several stops to along the way to regroup at trail crossings.
EXPERIENCED PACE & DISTANCE GROUP - This group will typically run a distance of 5 to 7 miles and also includes a designated front leader and a sweeper in the back. The pace is tailored to the group and frequent regrouping stops are done throughout the run at trail crossings.
WEATHER AND OTHER CANCELLATIONS, DELAYS & CHANGES
Sometimes mother nature is not in our favor; in an effort to keep the trails in good condition we may opt to cancel, change or postpone a run. When we make the decision to cancel or change the event, that information will be posted at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/pennypacktrailrunners, by one of our Admins, as early as possible prior to the start of the run.
A few words about Pennypack Trail Runners CultureWe provide a safe, positive-minded, and encouraging environment for runners of all levels. If you are new to running or a veteran you will find a place in our group.
We have a "No Runner Left Behind" philosophy and encourage you to never run alone. While on a group run, it is imperative for us all to keep an eye out for each other for both participant safety and trail navigation - we don't want people getting hurt and/or lost. Whenever possible, we assign a lead runner and a back-of-the-pack sweeper (this helps keep the group members accounted for, even with varying levels of ability). Often we break up larger groups, facilitating the ability to provide options for various paces and distances.
Welcome to our group; engage with other PTR participants as we have FUN, learn, grow, build friendships, and partake in a healthy lifestyle while discovering the beauty of nature through trail running!
PHOTOSThe group leaders take photos that are often used for social media posts. If you prefer to not have your photos posted, kindly bring this to the attention of one of the group-run leaders. We will make an effort to accommodate your request. We ask others to also be mindful of the privacy of other participants if requested.
