Deputy Commissioner Sneidar has served in the fire service for more than 25 years. He began his career as a firefighter with the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1992, serving in various capacities, assignments and ranks before his appointment to Deputy Commissioner in 2017.
Sneidar is an active member of the National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Fire Department Safety Officers Association and Front Line Guardians. He also serves with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as a volunteer life safety advocate and is also a member of the National Fire Service Occupational Cancer Alliance.
In 2006, Sneidar established and began leading the Southeastern Pennsylvania Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which through various events has raised over $195,000 for the nonprofit National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and the IAFF-Local 22 Survivors Fund. He also spearheaded the effort to organize the NFFF’s inaugural Philadelphia 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lincoln Financial Field.
Sneidar is a former soldier, having served his country honorably for over seven years of active duty in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps and U.S. Army Recruiting Command. He is an alumnus of the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md., and a graduate of Neumann University, with a degree in public safety administration. He also holds many national certifications.
Sneidar and his wife Patricia are lifelong residents of Philadelphia who have been married for more than 30 years. They have a son, Anthony III; a wonderful daughter-in-law, Bethany; and an adorable grandson, Dominic Anthony.
