Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
A program designed to give 9 – 17 year-olds a real life experience of the workplace.
Since 1992, hundreds of Philadelphia businesses, as well as departments within the City of Philadelphia have opened their doors and given young people a “behind the scenes” introduction to the workplace.
The City of Philadelphia partners with the Police Athletic League to honor outstanding PAL high school students for their excellence in academics and community activities. Exceptional students get to shadow the Mayor, Cabinet members and Commissioners for the day, allowing students a close up look at the workings of City Government.
The Police & Fire Memorial Ceremony
The Mayor and City Officials join representatives of the Fraternal Order of Police, Philadelphia Fire Department, Hero Scholarship Fund, members of the clergy and representatives from federal, state and other law enforcement and fire service agencies to recognize the uniformed Philadelphia Police Officers and Firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty ... Mayor’s Centenarian Celebration
Established in 2001, the City honors our elite senior population, our Centenarians — residents who are at least 100 years old.
